Kubuntu users have been experiencing some real problems with the drivers
in Natty and the beta drivers have improved the situation, see

I am still not happy with the performance compared to earlier versions of
Ubuntu, but at least it is usable now and I have experienced one lock up
since installing the new driver and other packages in the xorg-edgers ppa.

My comment in the bug report shows you where you can get the packaged
drivers without adding the entire ppa.
