Ummmm, Colin, what *were* those meds you took 15 minutes ago? :-D .
Everyone knows that Unity only comes up with such an error message when
you boot while you have your toaster plugged into the USB port. Sheesh!
AND *only* if you don't the correct driver for the toaster. If there is
a correct driver for the toaster then it boots into KDE (which keeps
Ric, with his pulse-ophilia, happy :-) ).
