Audacity

I installed Audacity this morning on my 10.10 notebook and am experiencing
some odd behavior -
On opening the app, all mouse-selectable buttons/functions can be selected
(although most don't perform anything since there is no file loaded).
If I open a .ogg file, it displays in the main view but none of the
mouse-selectable functions are available (all are greyed out). The text
menus do function to some degree, though.
If I open a .mp3 file, the display does not appear at all, and none of the
mouse-selectable functions are available.

I checked the installer, and didn't see any errors on install, and a cursory
look at the articles on Ubuntu don't indicate that this should be happening.

Is this a case of needing to re-install the app?
