I think that your copy is very fast ! because, the SATA disk cant handle
many IOPS as a SSD or SAS/SCSI disk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOPS 

Making a RAW calculation:

Size 20K per file x 90 IOPS = 1800KBps (KiloBytes per second, not Bits)
