Erm, I was refering to this, from the OP:

  E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or
old ones used instead.

Just reassuring the OP that his/her diagnosis of a network problem in a 
susequent post was correct, 99% of the time it's a temporary network 
failure as the repo servers are very reliable.

But I understand your issue.
