        Actually sir i am downloading that directory first from server and
then coping it to /var/www through bash scripting.Yes permission has been
changed.Following is the code.please see and tell me what went wrong.

  sudo wget http:/server-name/GNDEC-SMS-Service.tar.gz
sudo chmod 777 -R /var/www/
sudo mv GNDEC-SMS-Service.tar.gz /var/www/

cd /var/www/
sudo tar -zxvf  GNDEC-SMS-Service.tar.gz
sudo chmod 777 GNDEC-SMS-Service
