The bug talks about MESA and has nothing todo with kernel version. Best
bet is to check the current Mesa version you are using.
Looking at the Packages website Karmic comes with Mesa 7.6 and the fix
talks about Mesa version 7.7 so best upgrade to a newer Ubuntu version
or if brave enough
download mesa source code apply the patch and compile the package.
