Hanging-up : blank screen on restart

Hi all,

Do any one of you have a clue ?
I did not find any practical solution to my problem, googling.

Under ubuntu 9.10  my laptop (dell latitude d600) hangs up and restart with no prob (log screen comes up).
Under 10.04 and 10.10 with the latest kernels, it cannot restart after a hang-up (computer is on, HD runs, but blank screen, no signal). I then need to switch it off manually.

there might be an acpi issue or whatever... I cant solve...
