You do realise that you can only upgrade from one release to the next?
Excepting LTS releases.

You can't go 10.10 -> 11.10, you need to go 10.10->11.04->11.10.

You could stick with 10.04 (as I am doing for now) and then go to
12.04, which should be the next LTS release.
