Problem upgrading an offline computer

OK then, I'll keep that in mind when time comes to proceed with
fresh-installing. Great tip! Thanks for your help Colin.

Will the not-to-reformat-/ option leave the file system as it is now
(ext3) then? Should I upgrade it to ext4?
