^This. It may sound weird, but exploring something like FreeBSD or 
OpenBSD in addition to several Linux distros makes you much better at 
Linux than if you *only* ever used Linux. I'd especially recommend 
OpenBSD, since it's more "bare bones" and has probably the best man 
pages in the world.
