Ubuntiu 10.10 sets small resolution (GeForce FX 5200)

2.6.31-22-generic-pae is not a 10.10 kernel. It's a karmic kernel:

A 10.10 log would look something like this:

My guess is that you've not actually installed or upgraded to 10.10.
