Is encrypting a /home directory suggested?

FWIW, I've been encrypting my /home partitions for the last few
releases with ecryptfs and I've noticed no performance issues.  I have
a couple ubuntu-server installs where I selected to encrypt the entire
hard drives.  I've noticed no performance issues there either
(although these servers are hobbies - very little load on them.)
