Comments/Problems:
I had a computer with Ubuntu 10.11 and Windows XP (booting into Linux/XP via grub) on it, from unknown reason the computer stopped booting. I had no time to play with the problem,
so I leave it. During last week I decided install brand new version of Ubuntu 11.10 (I read, that it is possible alongside old linux and/or Windows). I downloaded .iso image decribed
on the top, but I couldn't finish installation because of partition of hard drive - there was no partition table to manipulate with. I tried older version (10.11), alternate install with expert mode,
nothing did help. I erased all partitions on the disk, so it's free (when I use fdisk during installation on the second console it shows unallocated space 160 GB,
Gparted on the live CD shows the same unallocated space), but it didn't help, too.
I hardly Googled, the problem seems to me similar to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/798285
http://askubuntu.com/questions/85833/installer-doesnt-detect-existing-partition-table-windows-7-partition
My disk is ST3160827AS (160 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA) in RAID (I can see this disk in my BIOS) and I think the problem is in this combination of SATA and RAID.
I hope, there is all needed information. Please, can you give me a hand?
Many thanks
Vlada
