I'm using wicd instead of network mangler. I couldn't take the pain any 
longer. I've read here, for some time, how others liked it and when NM 
decided to get weird, I ditched it a couple of evenings ago. So far, so 
good! I have a wired connection to a HughsNet Dish Sat modem and it 
would get wqonky with NM every once in awhile. No problems so far. Ric
