Inkscape does a very nice job for editing. Edit and then print back out
as a PDF with a different name so that you still have the original.
I no longer pdfedit due to:

[pdfedit consumes 100% of processor after an edit ]
Actually actually consumes nearly all of the cpu for any single change.
