I believe services configuration tools were a victim of the change to 
Upstart as a SysInit replacement.  Boot time is faster, but no thought 
was given on how system configuration tools, back-end or front-end, 
would work.  Even chkconfig won't work, as that only affects services 
that are still configured via the legacy SysV support.

(All the disadvantages of Slackware, none of the simplicity,, yay for 
Ubuntu progress)
