Enabling php5 mail function on local Apache2 server

Yes, I'm sending and receiving email in the normal way with no problems.

As far as I know there are no ant-spam measures on my local server
(localhost) to prevent reception of such email. I suspect that the mail
is not being sent from localhost because of an incorrect or incomplete
setting in the php5/apache2 configuration.
