In Navy Avionics[in the '60s when transistors were called "magic rocks"] one
of our most important troubleshooting tool was a small machinists hammer.
There got to be too many complaints about case damage so they took our
hammers away - we started using the heels of our oil
resistant/non-marking/non-sparking boots instead.
Heavier than the hammer and much more satisfying to employ. 8^)
