Yes, I guess it does suck, it forces someone to write a message that will get 
answered!!  As to another ISP, WildBlue works even 100 miles from nowhere!  My 
cabin has its's own electric supply, water supply and is completely outside of 
any cell coverage.  Or if you have Quest, they offer it via phonelines!
