Computer Sluggish after the last Kernel upgrade

While I would love to say we can tell you how to fix it, I have to admit
that I do not have the power to guess exactly what is going on and be
absolutely right as there could be thousands (and more) of reasons why a
computer would slow because of the Kernel.
So that said, lets start by checking logs, view your logs and see if it
points out anything abnormal to you and then post those to us.

No, but you can select the kernel from the grub menu, just press the ESC
like a mad man after your BIOS post and the grub menu will show up, or
you can alternatively edit /etc/default/grub and then run grub-update
which will allow you to adjust how long the grub menu stays.
