1. Are you connecting using a USB or ethernet port? If using a USB I'd
recommend using the ethernet port & then have the remote machines
connect via ipp (port 631).
ipp://<ipaddress>:631/printers/<printername>
ipp://<target>.local:631/printers/<printername>
or from a Win Vista Win7 use http instead:
http://<ipaddress>:631/printers/<printername>
However it should work either way. From the remote machine:
$ findsmb
and see if the printer is showing.
2. Do you have all of the necessary drivers installed (open
System|Administration|Synaptics & search on 'brother'.
brother-lpr-drivers-bh7 & brother-cups-wrapper-bh7 includes your model).
3. For samba share; System|Admin...|Printing|Server|make sure that
'Published shared printers connected to this system' is checked. Also
right click on the printer and ensure that 'Shared' is checked.
