It's generally considered bad form to address lots of lists like this in one go.

That's almost certainly not what's happening. The GMail web interface
simply doesn't _show_ you your own mail in your own inbox until
someone replies to it. This makes some sense (despite annoying many
people) because on the whole mail does arrive, and on the whole you
know you sent it. So it's kinda pointless showing you mail that you
know you already sent.

Your ISP can do nothing about this. This is the way GMail has behaved
since day one some years ago. It's a well known feature.

It isn't limited to @gmail.com addresses. I am using a google apps for
domains account which gives me the GMail interface but with my own
@popey.com domain. Of course there are rare cases where mail doesn't
hit a list, but invariably it does, and it's just that users of the
list don't see it for the reasons mentioned above.
