paste the link in vi, store them under different headings" ?
Not sure what you want.

A big question may be if you only use firefox. If not, a pure online
tool and/or crossbrowser support is needed. Xmarks probably the thing
to use.

Any way, for firefox only, I use SyncPlaces
(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8426/).Like it because
I can synchronize firefox bookmarks and web passwords to _my_ own ftp
server.

CheckPlaces (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10897/) is
another tool from Andy Halford that I find useful.
To organize bookmarks I use TagSifter
(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/998/). Some people
like tags, others think its a waste of time.

You mean Ubuntu official repositories? Not that I know.
Many on mozilla addons. Its kind of an official repository too.
If you didn't yet, check
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=sync&cat=1%2C22&lver=any&pid=1&sort=&pp=20&lup=&advanced=

Hope it helps
