I would always try the upgrade first because I had very little problems
with upgrades until now. OTOH, it seems I was quite lucky because others
have reported a lot of trouble. Anyway, I would also upgrade to grub2
after the system upgrade because I prefer the new version. As always,
YMMV, but if you make a backup of your /boot/grub/menu.lst it shouldn't
be too difficult to return to grub legacy if you don't like grub2.
