The card I have doesn't have a DVI output at all, just VGA, and from
all the replies,
posts in Nvidia's forum and the bug report, the real problem is the
recognition of the monitor. In my case that just doesn't happen.
I did try 2 different monitors, one a brand new Dell just out of the
box, and my system refused to recognize either.
Even after getting the resolution settings to where I wanted, using
the query button on the driver resulted in no
changes in the name or model.in the xorg.conf file or in the driver windows

Seeing as my system is an example of one that doesn't work,
I would be willing to try anything on it as far as tests with a code
developer to try to find the problem.
This issue would throw someone who just wants to try ubuntu, and
doesn't want to delve very deeply into problems completely off.
