Gary,
Yes, both give a lot of messages and especially the 2nd line you gave
showed a lot of messages but most are:
Sep 10 20:07:00 Laguna-new kernel: [1149587.927797] ata1: EH complete
Sep 10 20:07:00 Laguna-new kernel: [1149590.371857] ata1.00: configured
for UDMA/133
....
and also
Sep 9 20:06:55 Laguna-new kernel: [1063190.823830] ata1.00: qc timeout
(cmd 0x2f)
Sep 9 20:06:55 Laguna-new kernel: [1063190.823962] ata1: hard resetting
link
Sep 9 20:06:56 Laguna-new kernel: [1063191.350047] ata1: SATA link up
3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
Sep 9 20:06:56 Laguna-new kernel: [1063191.378690] ata1.00: configured
for UDMA/133
Sep 9 20:06:56 Laguna-new kernel: [1063191.378735] ata1: EH complete
.....
But I think they are messages and not errors but my knowledge of the
modern kernel way of coping with modern HD's is minimal. In the old days
(DOS and 286 processores) I could tinker with read an write times etc
to optimize performance but nowadays I have no idea how it is implemented.
I don't think it is an indication of imminent HD failure but I'm not
sure of it.
Joep
