Given your kbd/mouse prob goes away under another version of the os or the
live cd then software issue it would seem to be. They'd have under their
warranty windows based issues for sure as windows is supplied with the
system. Their own IT guys would prob look at Ubuntu and say WTF!. It's
amazing how much of the IT world is deaf and dumb re Linux. A bit like
ringing my isp yesterday re a tech prob with my adsl
Tech - What version of Windows are you using?
Me - I'm not using Windows. I'm using Ubuntu versions 8.04 and 10.04
Tech - Um, arh, don't know that operating system
Me - Well I know enough that if you give me the Windows equiv I'll find it on
my os
and so it went
My case was a power outage scrambled settings in my modem and t took a while
to get it right again. Nothing like being woken by a loud bang and a flash of
light and finding you have no power LOL
Computer manufacturers will generally look at only the OS supplied to you with
the system. Anything beyond that is likely deemed your prob :(
