You have already tried pavucontrol?? Just type that on a command line
and you'll get the gui. Look at what pulse audio sees as your setup and
correct it. Try different setups as you may not have plain-jane analog
audio. But, it should be identifying your sound device. That should be
your starting point, assuming you have pulse installed by the standard
install. Ric
