I'm assuming the kbd works, i.e. if you boot you can get into the bios and
such, affect the boot menu, etc. If that is the case I don't really know.
Maybe possible to boot a live cd, go into a terminal and fix from there?
Others here may know if that's viable. Again assuming you have a live cd even
of an earlier version? Alas I'm at a loss here
Just to recap this happened after a dist upgrade from 8.04/9.04 to 10.04? Old
emails are deleted my end so trying to make sure I have an idea what to

Do any keys work at all or just certain keys giving errors, like the hot keys,
e.g. function keys. Do you have a keyboard you can swap over to see if the
prob relates to that specific kbd? Does the mouse freeze?
managed to find some of your prev emails so have a lil to go on for nowI'm
