failing upgrade to Maverick beta

During upgrade to Maverick  beta I get the following, and the process stops,
under
processing "setting new software channels"

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz
Connection failed [IP: 91.189.88.45 80]
, W:Failed to fetch
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick/universe/source/Sources.gz
Connection failed [IP: 91.189.92.166 80]
, E:Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

 --- and then the upgrade process halts.
