installation question

How far in the installation process is this? Exactly what have you done?

Are you talking about the first menu that appears when you just started  
your CD or have you already clicked Install and moved on a bit? Because  
you should first click Install (I don't know the exact words), then things  
starts to happen and after a while it asks for how you want your  
partitions. There should be a choice that allows you to install Ubuntu on  
a separate partition, leaving Windows (if you have Windows installed) on  
its current partition after shrinking the partition to make place for a  
new one to which it will install Ubuntu.

You can also define your partitions manually which I think is a better  
option, unless you are an absolute beginner.
