I understand that, but even with a functioning mike, switching between
the mixer-control apps may (and has for me) cause some system
confusions. Using kmix I turned the volume down on my internal audio
output. Then pavucontrol couldn't increase my volume past that, marking
it as at 100%. Stuff like that happens. I had to remember that I used
kmix, went back to turn it back to 100%, in order for pavucontrol to
have the full range of volume control back. So, especially for a newbie,
it may be safer to rely on only one mixer and stick with it. Ric
