Have you tried setting a different location in the proxy settings dialog?
There's probably some scripting magic you could do searching for clues
on the network like the IP of the default gateway and get the MAC
address, and from that derive the location. I've often wanted
something like this, but not so much that the time spent making it
outweighs the few seconds using the proxy dialog :)
