Install of Ubuntu freezes

   I've got Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.10 successfully installed Acer Aspire One. Decided to dual boot XP & Ubuntu desktop on this Dell Pent4 I have. The install freezes, so does trying to run the OS off the live disk.

I've tried:
-Burning different disks, CD-R, DVD, didn't matter
-Tried to install known to work UNE, also stalled
-Tried installing from USB, I could not get computer to boot USB
-Tried disconnecting DVD drive while using CDRW & vise-vera
