Sound Problem with ubuntu 10.10

first the sound stops and i'm receiving that "pa_stream ..." message as a
pop up box, by the same way i've no miniatures of my AVI files.
it's keep staying just like it was before installing ubuntu restricted
plugins.
i don't know what to do now, maybe i've to re-install it.
