apache not correctly running php scripts

Was all this installed as Ubuntu packages? If so, I'd guess there is some
php stuff that did not get installed. Can you list the php related packages,
something like 'dpkg -l |grep php'. A generic Ubuntu install should "just
work" (assuming all the php stuff is installed).
