How to set up wireless internet in ubuntu 10.04.1

The wireless sign with a red ! mark on it means that there is no
wireless connection.  Click on that sign to see what connections are
available. Under 'Wired Connections' you may see 'disconnected' and
under that 'Available' and under that something like 'Auto eth1' which
is an available wired connection.  If you click on that, your wired
connection should be enabled and the icon will change to a pair of up &
down arrows.
