Sharing files between XP & Ubuntu

I have been using an ntfs partition to keep all my files. Don't use
"My Documents" in XP or similar in Ubuntu. I had trouble with Ubuntu
10.04 (torrents) so I was using 9.10 & ntfs-config. This is both
unnecessary (I was told) AND crashes in 10.10. I was gunna ask how to
automount an ntfs partition, but then I remember someone a while back
telling me about dynamic links. Well I did a fresh install & forgot to
take note of the page that I bookmarked about this. Doing a bit of
Googling I can't find the page with all the info. Either way, the page
explained how a dynamic link works, but not exactly how one goes about
setting it up. Thought someone might be able to point me in the right
direction. Or should I just keep things the way they are, in which
case how do I automount the ntfs partition?
