Remote VNC on computer bootup (Lucid)

Not quite, there is a neat trick I really like, I've only gotten this to 
work with tightvncserver, however.

You need to have installed and running GDM, (your regular login manager) 
and gdm configured to accept network logins.  Ie: your 
/etc/gdm/custom.conf file should contain:

[xdmcp]
Enable=true
DisplaysPerHost=3


Then when you execute the vncserver (you can do this as root to get it 
working, thouh in production, I think it would be best to create a 
vncserver user and execute the server as that user) you can add the 
-query localhost  :1

The resulting vnc session, rather than starting a desktop environment, 
will display the Login screen for that system, and allows you to log in 
as any user you could normally log in as.
