sudo touch /forcefsck
sudo reboot 

with that mountall will do an fsck during boot with a readonly mounted
rootfs that should be the safest way to enforce a filesystem check on
your root device and you wont run into issues due to moving files and
inodes (which you will definitely have on a mounted root filesystem)...
