You can install Adobe Reader in your Linux. It should be in the repo.
Synaptic, in PCLos, shows AdobeReader_enu and AdobeReader-plugin. (I
don't have Ubuntu up at the moment, but the files should be available.)
Any PDF files that Adobe can't read are probably defective in some
way, since PDF is an Adobe creation.
