Wipe HD with LVM (Fedora) already installed.

hi all,
   trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 with no prior Ubuntu experience.  I 
need to completely wipe lvm partitions and logical volumes created under 
Fedora.

   I do not find any information in the installation guide or the wiki 
on how to do this with the installer.  I did get to a point where the 
install program supposely allowed me to erase a logical volume but it 
appear to do nothing over an hour.

   Direction to the proper reading material strongly appeciated.
