External display unclear/fuzzy

Hi

Im running ubuntu 10.04 on a hp pavilion dv3 laptop. With ATI 4550 HD 
graphic card. Everything works fine when im using the lapton screen, but 
when im connecting my external display through the VGA-port (the only 
option, the screen doesnt have HDMI, and the laptop doesnt have a 
DVI-port) the external display is unclear, kind of fuzzy, like a TV with 
an antenna that is not properly tuned.

The external display work perfectly under ubuntu 9.10.

Could this be a problem with the graphic driver? Im using the default 
from installation.
