10.04 too heavy for my hardware

Hi,

I installed lubuntu on my father's Athlon-600/384mb ram and it works
really smooth.
Takes 50s to boot (bios not included), and uses ~70-80mb ram with
desktop loaded.

The only thing I miss is a proper "desktop" where I can create and
place icons without editing .desktop-files manually :/
