I don't use the label. openSUSE uses the disk id, as per the grub stanza
I posted. I haven't yet decided whether I prefer UUID or disk id, so at
the moment I'm letting each system use its own default.

> grub> search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I patched this search command out - [I've now seen your reply to my
other message so I'll reply in that thread]

I'll try the instructions you gave here to see what happens.

If it still doesn't work I'm thinking I'll try chainloading the openSUSE
grub 1.
