How to switch active GPU?

Hi

I've just bought a HP Pavilion dv3 2390eo. The main difference from my 
earlier laptop is the additional graphic card (ATI HD 4550).

The thing im having a problem with finding out is:        - how to 
switch active GPU?

                 - is it possible?

This is very easy in Win7, and im looking for a just as easy way to do 
this in Ubuntu.
My motive is to reduce the amount of power used while on battery. this 
to save valuable minutes of battery time.
