You asked for a suggestion and I gave you one.

The suggestion was based on a post in another forum where the person had 
recorded a video during a speech night and then used digikam to transfer 
it onto a Linux computer.

It doesn't take much to install digikam and if it doesn't work as you 
expect it to work then delete it and "go back to the drawing board".

But I now see that from me just asking you the question you have 
received quite a number of posts on the subject.
