problem installing ubuntu 10.04 on new computer

Try also the live PCLinuxOS. If it runs, the problem could be like mine 
and due to
Ubuntu not having Nividia and ATI drivers. I had trouble installing 
Ubuntu 10.4 as
the install process would often stop. However eventually it installed 
but would
freeze when programs were opened or when I used the mouse or keyboard.
Fortunately I was able to install these before the system froze as it 
was doing constantly.
I don't know how you would install them if Ubuntu won't install at all.
PCLinuxOS has both these drivers and works well.
