Help mixing sound.

Hello,

I am having one hell of a problem trying to get my two sources of 
recording mixed properly.

The problem is that no matter what I seem to do in the Pulseaudio 
Manager, or the volume controls, or the alsa mixer, I cannot seem to 
record from an mp3 playing in Firefox and then get it to play back 
without it sounding like it's overloading the speakers.

It sounds good as it plays while I'm recording it, and the sound of my 
guitar coming in over the microphone sounds great, but the damn bass 
track I'm playing to always sounds like crap on the recording.

Could someone please give me some pointers on getting this adjusted right?
